A charming ambassador will be raising awareness worldwide of
the International Year of Sport and Physical Education: a
joint stamp issued by the United Nations, the International
Olympic Committee and the Swiss Post Office will draw
hundreds of thousands of people’s attention to the theme of
sport.
Dynamics of sport
The stamp highlights the dynamics of sport and its inclusive
function by representing sports movements which combine to
form a harmonious image which is sure to stimulate an
interest in sporting activities.
Swiss designer
The stamp was created by Swiss designer Roland Hirter who
also developed the logo for International Year of Sport and
Physical Education 2005, which is also going to be seen
worldwide.

The new stamp bears the words “Nations Unies” [United
Nations] and “Comité International Olympique” [International
Olympic Committee] plus the word “Helvetia”, which is
obligatory in Switzerland. The special International Year of
Sport and Physical Education 2005 stamp will be issued on 23
November 2004. The stamp can be ordered on the Internet from
www.post.ch/philashop.
Its franking value is 1.80 Swiss francs.
