NYC 2012 Seeks to to Enroll 60,000 Volunteers

In an unprecedented campaign to support New York City’s Bid for the Olympic Games in 2012, NYC2012, the committee leading the Bid effort, has established a goal to enroll 60,000 New Yorkers as volunteers.

With less than 250 days left until the final decision is made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on July 6, 2005, NYC2012 is working with companies and organizations to recruit volunteers and show the world that New Yorkers really want an Olympic Games in 2012.  Their goal is to encourage New Yorkers to show their support for the bid by volunteering in any way they can, ranging from promotional event staffing to serving as Information Ambassadors and spreading the word about the Olympic Games to colleagues, friends and family.

No Olympic Bid City has ever recruited this many volunteers! Only in New York could athletes from every nation, from Brazil to Bulgaria, from Ireland to India, from Kenya to Korea, find people from their hometowns cheering them on as they compete.  Every athlete will truly feel at home.

Recruiting 60,000 volunteers during the bid phase will send a powerful message to the IOC and the world about the enthusiasm New Yorkers have for hosting the Games, as well as the City’s ability to execute the world’s greatest sporting event.

Join the thousands of volunteers who have already committed to making New York’s Olympic Bid a reality.  To register as a volunteer and show your support for New York City, go to VOLUNTEER.NYC2012.COM Please share this invitation with your colleagues, family and friends.
