Youth Athletic Camps

Summer 2002


THE MEL PENDER TRACK AND FIELD DEVELOPMENT CAMP

Stephenson High School, Stone Mountain, GA

 June 24-28, July 8-12, and July 22-26

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for youth ages 8-18

 

  • Registration fee: $175.00 per camper. Deadline: June 1 (postmark).
     

  • Deposit: $50.00. Deadline: May 1 (postmark) (Deposit applied to registration fee).
     

  • After June 1, registration fee is $225.00 per camper.
     

  • Each camp is limited to 125 campers. Early registration is strongly encouraged.

The Program
Basic techniques will be taught in a variety of track and field events. Emphasis on instruction in running and sprinting and starting techniques, relay exchanges; long jump, triple jump, high jump and distance running will be emphasized.

  • Harvey Glance, head track coach at University of Alabama, and 4-time Olympian
     

  • Mel Pender, 2-time Olympian, and world record holder
     

  • John Moon, head track coach at Seton Hall University
     

  • Russ Rogers, head track coach at Ohio State University and Olympic coach
     

  • Pauline Thompson-Davis, 2-time Olympian, Bahamas
     

  • Wyomia Tyus, 2-time Olympian, world record holder
     

  • George Williams, head track coach at St. Augustine College, and Olympic coach
