Background

SchoolNet-Mali is a product of the collaboration between SchoolNet Africa, a pan African NGO and Mokoya Juru a Malian Association, hence the name SchoolNet-Mali-Mokoya Juru. IEARN-Mali that is part of IEARN International is part of SchoolNetMali-Mokoya Juru.

In 2003 SchoolNet-Mali was awarded a one year grant to put 200 computers in 10 schools. SchoolNet has been successful in deploying computers in its partner schools, training teachers how to use them, creating a system of computer room management.

To date, teachers in these schools have been actively involved in training teachers and learners on how to use computer via IEARN International forums and SchoolNetAfrica online trainings. However they are facing challenges on doing online research and collaborative learning with educators and classes around the country and the world because of the issue of connectivity.

 What have we achieved?

Since its creation in 2002 SchoolNetMali-Mokoya Juru has been productive:

2003- 2004
the school benefited from a grant from USAID-Mali to equip 11 schools with computers and train more than 200 teachers and learners on how to use computers as a tool of teaching and learning.

2005 -2006 training of more than 200 students in computer use in is training with the price varying from $2 to $40.

The recent evaluation in 2006 of our entire program shows that we have trained more than 3000 teachers and learners since 2003.
